Beautiful (Italy x Reader)

There are so many ways to call someone beautiful.

Beautiful. Attractive. Gorgeous. Pretty. Adorable. Ravishing. But your favorite word to call something or someone 'beautiful' wasn't even in English. It was in Italian.

"Che bello... (How beautiful...)" You whispered, looking up at the setting sun and smiling, loving the way the word practically rolled off of your tongue. You spent most of your days at the park. You were a very expressive person. You loved painting scenery at the park.... In fact, that was your favorite thing to do. There were two reasons for that. The first was that there were people everywhere when you went to the city's wonderful attraction, and you were a very social person. You loved talking to people and making friends. The second reason was that you felt that painting expressed the emotions that you had no idea how to put into words. You thought those feelings were part of the beauty of life. They made it worth living in  your opinion.

The warm feeling and colors of the sun distracted you, your paintbrush slipping from your fingers. Your eyelids slid closed over your pretty (e/c) orbs as you soaked in the sun's extravagant rays of orange, red, and yellow. It was pure bliss to you. You had made it your life's goal to experience as much happiness as you could. Not to say that you didn't have your bad days. You had had plenty of those already. But if anything, those days just made your resolve more certain. You had always been convinced that there was always good in everything around you. You just had to look hard enough and learn to treasure the little things of life.

Despite all of this, you honestly still felt like there was something crucial missing from your life. You had more than enough friends.... And yet, at times, you still felt partially alone. Like you were only half of yourself most of the time. This particular feeling had really been the main cause for your.... Almost uncanny interest in animals. Especially cats. GOSH you loved cats. They were soft, and warm, and albeit lazy and sometimes violent creatures, they still brought you a certain warmth and happiness that you rarely experienced - at least, not at that kind of level.

That being said, you had finally opened your eyes and realized that you had zoned out during the past couple of minutes. The sunset was still beautiful, but it had passed it's prime and you picked up your paintbrush and decided to paint the remainder of it while it still lingered in the sky. You giggled as you dabbed at the canvas, loving how the colors of your paints smeared together in just the right way to make something.... Di bello.~ (Beautiful.~ (in general))

"That's a nice-a painting you're doing there-a, bella~! (beautiful~! (for a female))" A light, boyish voice sounded from behind you. Your eyes widened at the Italian accent and the word 'bella' and you whirled around. For once in your entire life you had absolutely NO idea how to react. None. Your mind went completely blank as you stared at the handsome Italian stranger in front of you. He had honey brown eyes and light brown hair with what seemed like an auburn tint. His skin was perfectly tanned. He wore a light blue T-shirt and some dark blue jeans. When you regained a bit of composure, there was only one thought that crossed your mind. 'Lui è bello... (He's beautiful...)' He gave a slight giggle and waved a hand in front of your face. "Anyone-a there?" He asked playfully and you snapped entirely back to your senses, your cheeks burning with embarrassment. 'Come on (y/n)! He's just a person! JUST. A. PERSON. You've talked to people before. What's wrong with you?' You mentally berated yourself and gave him a slightly shy smile.

"S-Sorry.... And t-thank you....." You stuttered out and you nearly face-palmed at the blush that crept onto your cheeks and at how shy you sounded. This was the complete opposite of how you wanted to act. He let out a laugh and closed his eyes. His laugh was beautiful. The way he let his head fall backwards, his hair moving along with it, swaying with the motion of his perfect laughter.

"Non c'è problema (No problem)! Tell-a me... Where-a did you-a learn to paint like-a that, bella?" He asked with a cute close-eyed smile that made you want to melt on the inside. You turned back to your painting to continue with your work, effectively distracting yourself enough so that you could talk properly.

"Well, I didn't exactly learn anywhere. I just sort of.... Taught myself. It took quite a lot of trial and error, though. Molte prove ed errori... (Many trials and errors...)" You spoke, gently brushing the tip of your paintbrush into the red mixture, adding a bit to the canvas, and using your fingers to smear it how you wanted it. You felt the stranger lean over your shoulder and you froze up, your (e/c) eyes widening and your fingers completely still on the canvas. "W-What are y-you-" You began but he cut you off.

"No, bella! Don't-a stop while I-a watch you..." He trailed off and grabbed your wrist in his own warm hand, moving your fingers over the canvas for you. You felt your cheeks heat up as the breath of his words tickled your neck and he moved your fingers in focused patterns. When he finally pulled away, you were pulled out of your daze by the brilliance of what had been done with your average painting. It looked like it had earlier. Bright.... Radiant.... Real. You could practically feel the warmth coming off of the canvas as you stared at it's beauty. You whirled around, mouth slightly parted in disbelief and (e/c) eyes filled with awed wonder.

"Never mind how or where I learned to paint! Where did you learn to paint?!" You asked. You watched his mouth spread into a lovely smile.

"My-a grandfather taught-a me! He-a was a very amazing-a man... He was-a everything that I-a wish I could be-a! My skills are-a not even-a half of his." He said this with a sense of sorrow, but the smile kept it's place on his face. You could tell that his grandfather meant a great deal to him, and that something had happened. Of course, this man was still only a stranger, so you didn't think it was right to ask what had happened. At least, not yet. You smiled your normal smile for the first time since you had met him.

"He sounds wonderful." You complimented and he nodded and smiled in return. For a second he stared at you, and then he opened his mouth.

"You know-a, you're a very bella ragazza, but-a I think even just-a your smile is-a enough to light up-a an entire room-a!" he complimented. You felt your cheeks go scarlet red and you looked down.

"T-Thank you....." You stated, your smile growing larger.

"What's your-a name, bella?" He asked with a smile that almost made you want to never look away.

"I-It's (y/n)." You replied. "What about you, mysterious stranger?" You asked playfully, giggling a bit. He laughed again and you were instantly glad that you had made the remark.

"It's Feliciano! But you-a can just-a call me Feli~!" He said and you laughed as well.

"Alright then, Feli. It's getting pretty late and I need to get home, but I hope we see each other around sometime!" You said, realizing that the sun had already been set in the past time that you had been conversing with him. Feliciano grinned.

"I-a hope so too-a, (y/n)!" He said and gave you a look that you were tempted to classify as longing and real hope. You blushed and smiled, beginning to gather your things up. Feliciano decided to help you get your things together and you then said your goodbyes, both of you walking away with the lingering feeling that you would definitely not be seeing the last of each other.

~Extended Ending~

Your hand made contact with fur, but that wasn't the only thing that your hand was touching. There was another hand beneath yours with a familiar sort of warmth. You looked up to see a charming smile and two beautiful honey brown irises.

"I knew-a we'd meet again-a, bella (y/n)~!"
Hi! Long time no write! Or at least... For me anyway. This is Italy's ending for my quiz on Quotev that I've mentioned how many times again? Yeah... This one was kind of hard, considering that I honestly don't like doing 'happy' plots. But that's not my REAL literature nemesis. Pulling off 'flirty reader' for Spain is just going to be the WORST THING THAT WILL EVER HAPPEN IN MY ENTIRE LIFE!!! But anyway, I hope you like this. I had to open the blinds in my room to remember what happiness felt like just to write this (just kidding XD)

I don't own you, the picture, Hetalia, or Italy! I only own the story!
